Janne’s Blog: Review – Deep-Cleansing Peat Shampoo with Argan oil + Moisturizing Peat Conditioner with Olive oil
During pregnancy, hair usually grows faster and becomes thicker – and the same happened to me. But… about six months after I stopped breastfeeding, my hair became very thin, lay flat against my scalp, and got greasy very quickly. I basically had to wash it every day. Constantly having greasy hair didn’t do much for my self-esteem, and washing it so often became tiresome, so I started looking for help online.
After reading about the benefits of peat for hair, I came across the natural cosmetics brand Aesti, which uses pure Estonian peat in its products. Browsing their range, I was immediately enchanted by all of their products, but I could only afford two or three. My first choices were the peat shampoo with argan oil, the moisturizing peat conditioner with olive oil, and the shower cream.
My first positive impression came the moment I opened the package – the products looked even more beautiful than in the photos. The packaging and labels are in a harmonious color palette, and the illustration of the bog on the products is so charming and heartwarming. Of course, what matters most is the product itself and its effect, and here I was not disappointed: I noticed results from the very first use.
Unlike many other natural shampoos, the peat shampoo doesn’t leave hair frizzy or tangled after washing. After using the moisturizing peat conditioner, my hair is soft and completely manageable even when wet. For me, the biggest advantage is that my hair stays clean for longer. While I used to have to wash it every day, now I wash it every two or sometimes even three days, depending on the weather and my activities (like sports or wearing hats). Big changes don’t happen overnight, so I secretly hope that with longer-term use of the shampoo and conditioner, this positive effect will grow even stronger or at least remain consistent.
Since Aesti’s peat shampoo is such a pure product, we also started using it on our children’s hair. We wash their hair once every week or two, and because their hair is still unspoiled and stays clean for a long time, there isn’t a dramatic difference. However, I have noticed a slight moisturizing effect on the scalp of our youngest, a 2-year-old, who still has a bit of baby cradle cap. She has had long hair since birth, and when cradle cap appeared, we didn’t want to fuss with oils or use over-the-counter remedies regularly. Now, when we wash her hair with the peat shampoo, the cradle cap gradually decreases, and the little flakes are easier to remove than with regular shampoo. I believe that soon, cradle cap will be a thing of the past in our family.
