Viru bog (Lääne-Viru County)

Viru bog is located in Lahemaa National Park and is one of the most visited and easily accessible bogs in Estonia. The hiking trail begins right next to the main road and follows a comfortable boardwalk through beautiful bog and forest landscapes. As you walk, you’ll see dark bog pools, moss fields, and sparse pines that create a truly calming atmosphere. At the midpoint of the trail stands a 10-metre viewing tower offering a wonderful panoramic view over the entire bog. In spring and autumn, migrating birds can be heard singing here, and misty sunrises often add a magical touch to the scenery. Viru bog offers plenty to discover for nature lovers, families, and tourists alike. It’s an ideal place to slow down and enjoy the purity and beauty of Estonia’s nature.
